Managing Director
At most firms, advisors look for ways to fit clients into their box. At North Inlet, we figure out how to build custom boxes. It’s more about solving problems creatively and finding a way forward, less about grinding out a process. We’ve also put together a group with tremendous professional diversity. Individually, we’re another banker, lawyer, CPA, executive. Together, we are a potent team of senior advisors that can provide sophisticated guidance by drawing from hundreds of real, multi-dimensional experiences. And we’re pretty nice people, too.
Stephen brings more than 20 years of investment banking experience to his role as Managing Director of North Inlet. He was a senior officer in the Mergers and Acquisitions department of Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo Securities), and was a partner in Fennebresque & Co., where he spent four years building and leading an industry-focused M&A advisory practice.
As an advisor to both buyers and sellers, Stephen has led mergers and acquisitions involving public, private equity, family and founder-owned companies ranging in size from $10 million to $10 billion. His professional highlights include serving as an advisor on M&A Advisor’s 2005 Middle Market Deal of the Year, a Reverse Morris Trust transaction.
Stephen moved east from his native Texas to pursue his education, graduating with a B.A. in English literature from Sewanee: The University of the South, and earning his MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.
He is married with two teenaged daughters and an enthusiastic German shorthaired pointer. When he’s not giving advice at work or receiving it at home, Stephen can typically be found long-distance running or plotting his next family vacation or landscaping project.
