Managing Director
As a provider of advice to companies and their owners over many, many years, our greatest successes often came over prolonged periods of time, working through numerous challenges and against long odds, and requiring intense focus and determination which most traditional advisory firms honestly cannot stomach. The North Inlet platform is aligned to meet those challenges without the temptation to think short-term and ultimately forges client and advisor relationships that stand the test of time.
Joining in 2017, John leads North Inlet’s efforts for those companies in the Food, Forestry & Agribusiness sectors. Most recently, John was responsible for senior client development responsibilities for the Food & Agribusiness division at Wells Fargo – the nation’s largest lender to this sector. Throughout his 30 year career, John has extensive experience in private capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged finance, high yield capital markets, private equity, and commercial banking.
Most of John’s professional focus has been on helping clients grow through acquisitions. John has successfully completed over $45 billion of M&A transactions and over $80 billion in acquisition debt financings.
Additionally, John also brings extensive farmland and timberland real estate experience through Timber Opportunity Partners, LLC, a real estate brokerage business founded in 2010 and licensed to do business in multiple states.
John graduated from Washington & Lee University with a B.A. in Economics.
In his community, John serves on the board of visitors of The Fletcher School, an independent school offering a comprehensive educational program designed to build the academic, social and emotional competence of students with specific learning disabilities and/or ADHD. John also remains active in numerous conservation, preservation and advocacy groups including his participation in the Forest Landowners Association as a board member, a leading advocate promoting the rights of all private landowners. Married with three children, John and his family can often be found in the great outdoors, enjoying scenic coastal and rural settings and preserving the unique landscape which surrounds us.
